A fine example of late 18th-century English craftsmanship, this George III serpentine front chest of drawers is a rare and substantial antique piece. Constructed in mahogany veneer with oak and pine secondary woods, it showcases the refined joinery and decorative inlay work characteristic of the period.
Construction & Detail:
- Banded veneer to top board with light wood line inlay
- Four graduated cock-beaded long drawers with full dust boards
- Upper drawer with divided interior
- Vertically veneered skirt with triple-line light and dark wood inlay
- Canted corners and shaped conforming bracket foot base
Dimensions: 39.5" W x 24.25" D x 45" H
Condition: Good antique condition consistent with age. Shrinkage split to top board with some later fill; light denting and marring to top surface. Upper drawer has later dividers. Feet are old and appear original, some with tight hairline cracks. Overall a very presentable and structurally sound piece.
